El Nino Watch
The northeast monsoon (October-December) brings Samui's heaviest rain, El Nino or not. Keep documents and electronics high and dry; never cross moving water.
Preparedness
Heavy rain on saturated ground floods low roads and can trigger landslides on slopes. Before a storm: tie down or bring in anything that can fly, prepare tarps and rope, charge everything, and follow the TMD and the DDPM (1784). During: avoid flooded roads and slopes; never walk or drive through moving water.
