Hazards
The global catalogue is fairly complete for M4.5+ since the 1970s. Few or no events means low seismic activity nearby, not zero risk. For building standards, check the national seismic zoning or the GEM global hazard map. Recent quakes (30 days, M2.5+) are in the place level.
Earthquakes are not linked to El Nino, but they matter for a long-term home. Coastal places also have tsunami exposure from distant quakes.
