Met Office HadCRUT5 and HadSST4

Data and trust

HadCRUT5 (with the University of East Anglia) is the global land + sea surface temperature record; HadSST4 is sea surface temperature only, from ships and buoys. The app keeps the global HadCRUT5, the global HadSST4 and the tropical HadSST4 (30S-30N).

Limits. Monthly, released around the end of the next month. Version numbers in the file names change a few times a decade; the source then shows an error until updated.

How to read it

degC above 1961-1990. HadCRUT5 carries a 95 % range. July 2026 HadCRUT5: +1.10; August 2026 HadSST4 global +1.14, tropics +1.11.

Why it matters for Koh Samui

An independent check on NASA and NOAA. The tropical sea series shows the El Nino warmth directly.
