Samui International Airport (most flights by Bangkok Airways; Thai Airways also sells Bangkok-Samui). Surat Thani airport, reached after the ferry, has more airlines and seats (e.g. Nok Air, AirAsia).

The airport stays open when ferries stop for waves, but seats are few and expensive when everyone leaves; storms can close it too.
