A rain gauge that measured heavy (35.1-90 mm) or very heavy (over 90 mm) rain in the last 24 hours, or a news report of heavy rain in a Thai place.
Hazards
New map category (events.category = heavy_rain). Measured points come from ThaiWater gauges (kind observed); reported points come from the news scan (kind reported, see Incidents reported).
Limits. Point measurements; a faulty gauge can report a false peak. The window is the last 24 hours, rolling.
Orange: heavy rain, 35.1-90 mm in 24 h (TMD class). Red: very heavy, more than 90 mm. To keep the map readable, each province shows every red gauge but only its 5 wettest orange gauges plus any at 60 mm or more; the province summary on the Thailand page counts all of them.
Heavy rain in the hills of Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat reaches the rivers and the roads to the piers within hours.
