NOAA's satellite monitoring of heat stress on coral reefs. The app follows the Gulf of Thailand stations (Samui is in the western Gulf station).

Coral Reef Watch uses daily 5 km satellite sea temperatures to estimate how much heat stress reefs are under. For each "virtual station" it gives the SST, the anomaly, the Degree Heating Weeks and a bleaching alert level.
Coral bleaching: when water stays too warm for too long, corals expel the tiny algae living in them and turn white. They can recover if the heat ends soon; long or intense stress kills them.
The product is daily and one day behind.
